• There's been a couple of poems of which I had thought

  In the desert,

  
  

  I saw a creature, naked, bestial,

  
  

  Who, Squatting upon the ground,

  
  

  Held his heart in his hands,

  
  

  And ate of it.

  
  

   

  
  

  I said, "Is it good, friend?"

  
  

  "It is bitter - bitter," he answered;

  
  

  "But I like it

  
  

  Because it is bitter,

  I had written an idea

  
  

  that would solve all the world's problems

  
  

  on an empty piece of lined notebook paper

  
  

  Famine. Disease. Hearbreak.

  
  

  All would cease to exist

  
  

  But I must have lost that notebook

  
  

  or ripped out that page to write

  
  

  the girl that I love

  
  

  a nice little poem

  
  

   

  
  

  And even though the world is slowly dying

  
  

  at least that poem made that one girl
